Receptionist
The Receptionist works at the front desk and is charged with directing people and answering questions. The receptionist is the first point of contact for job seekers, employers, vendors, and visitors. The receptionist is responsible for all tasks related to interactions with all visitors including, but not limited to, greeting customers, answering the telephone, and triaging customers to appropriate departments. The receptionist schedules customers for workshops and appointments with other staff.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
The Receptionist receives direct supervision from the Career Center Manager. Guidelines and policies cover overall duties. Instructions are given for unusual types of assignments. When regular duties are performed independently with policies, some latitude is expected. The supervisor is referred to as unusual problems are encountered. The supervisor reviews work on an ongoing basis.
MAJOR DUTIES
• Directs all phone calls to staff, greets and directs visitors and clients to proper offices.
• Interact in a professional manner with job seekers, employers, partners, co-workers and others who engage with the career center.
• Assists customers in registering for career center membership.
• Schedules, appointments and registers customers for workshops.
• Performs data entry.
• Disseminates incoming mail and correspondence to JTEC staff assigned to the career center.
• Performs assigned duties in a professional and businesslike manner and in accordance with JTEC policies and procedures.
• Performs other related duties and developmental tasks as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Demonstrates professional communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks during a routine day.
• Knowledge of telephone communication techniques.
• Ability to complete all forms and reports as required.
• Ability to promote JTEC in a professional and businesslike manner.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with individuals from diverse socio-economic and multi-cultural backgrounds.
SUGGESTED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma or equivalent required. One year direct related experience working in a customer service environment where the customer is valued is required. Any combination of education or training which demonstrates the possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• Moderate dexterity of bands and fingers for calculator/computer work.
• Normal physical strength to handle routine office materials and tools, lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
• Moderate level – sitting for long periods of time.
• High level – close vision to computer monitor.
• Normal level of hearing for telephone and general communication.
Hours Mon – Fri 8-4
Salary $35,000 plus great benefits!
